Featured project: Three Birds Roof Transformation
The latest masterpiece from Three Birds Renovations is the total transformation of a renovator’s delight into a contemporary family home, made complete with a Dulux Acratex Roofing System refresh.
This cottage in Sydney was dated and dark. The Three Birds knew that with the right finishes, a fresh colour palette and a completely restored roof, this home could be transformed into something special.
By using the Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane, Three Birds Renovations transformed the home’s exterior with a light, bright new facade finished with a freshly restored and repainted roof. Cracked and loose roof tiles were repaired and the roof's original brown paint finish was replaced with Colorbond® Surfmist®, chosen to offset the home’s new creamy exterior and neutral detailing.
Metal roof restoration
Metal roofs can begin to deteriorate over time by fading, corroding and developing rust patches. The Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane protects all types of sheet metal roofs, including Colorbond, galvanised iron, aluminium, Zincalume® and corrugated iron roofs, for both single storey and double storey homes.
This Colorbond metal roof in Greenwith, South Australia, was restored by a roofing applicator using Dulux Acratex. A large amount of dirt and debris had built up on the surface, which was removed by a pressure wash and a rust removing power tool, then specially treated with a rust-proof formulation designed to extend its life and prevent future damage. A number of screws and nails were missing and sheets of metal were damaged or loose. The roofing applicator replaced all loose metal sheets, and repaired damaged valley irons. As this roof had been affected by rust, it was primed and sealed with a formulation designed specifically to treat rust and help stop future damage from occurring. To complement the home’s exterior, the roof was finished in Slate Grey from the Dulux Acratex Roofing colour range, and a double coating of Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane was applied in a satin finish.
Tiled roof restoration
Tiled roofs can become damaged by harsh weather and start to look shabby as tiles become loose, cracked or misplaced.
This concrete tiled roof in Warrandyte, Victoria, had a large amount of lichen and algae growth. After engaging with a Roofing Applicator, the old tiles were pressure washed to thoroughly remove dirt, grime and lichen. Cracked or faulty tiles were repaired and any broken tiles replaced. As there was some loose ridge capping and cracked mortar, the roofing expert repointed the roof to provide watertight protection against the elements. Mould and fungus was treated with a sterilising formula to prevent future growth from occurring.
The roof was then primed and sealed with a special formula designed specifically to adhere to the surface and finally two coats of our Dulux Acratex exclusive Roof Membrane formula were applied in Colorbond Monument® in a gloss finish.
Blackburn roof restoration
This roof restoration in Blackburn, Victoria, transformed an old cement tiled roof and completely refreshed the entire home.
The owners of this Edwardian weatherboard home were in the process of renovating, with exterior updates planned including a freshly painted facade and resurfaced driveway. The home’s faded and damaged old roof was in need of a total transformation to complement these additions and complete the renovation.
The existing roof had lichen and algae build-up and missing and damaged tiles. The roofing applicator replaced missing tiles and cleaned and removed all roof dirt and lichen. The roof was completely repaired, resealed and coated with the Dulux Acratex exclusive roof membrane formulation and finished in Dulux Acratex Charcoal, a contrasting roof colour to perfectly coordinate with the home’s new bone weatherboard exterior.

Featured project: Warrandyte roof restoration
A roof restoration revitalised this metal roof in Warrandyte, Victoria to create a fresh, contemporary look and provide watertight protection.
The Colorbond roof was beginning to look tired and had developed leaks and damage from exposure to the elements. Following a thorough site inspection, a considerable amount of rust and debris was found to have built up on the roof’s surface. Roof screws were missing and metal sheets and valley irons were misplaced or broken. The roof was restored with a high pressure clean, and all rusted and damaged metal sheets were repaired or replaced. The entire roof’s surface was sterilised, primed and sealed with a formula specifically designed for metal roofs to help prevent further rust and keep the roof looking fresher for longer. The roof was then finished with two coats of our Dulux Acratex exclusive Roof Membrane formula in Colorbond Woodland Grey in a satin finish.
