Metal roof restoration process
Severe storm damage had left this metal roof in Warrandyte, Victoria, in bad shape.
Wind and water had affected the roof's surface, stripping away its protective coating and leaving the home susceptible to further weather exposure and water damage.
With the help of professional roofing applicators, the roof was completely refreshed and transformed.
See the step-by-step process and the finished roof restoration below.
Step 1: Roof damage assessment
A roof inspection revealed the extent of the roof's storm damage.
Rain, wind and hail had taken its toll and worn away at the paint work, stripping the roof of protection and exposing the metal substrate to the elements.
The roofing applicator created a roof restoration plan to properly safeguard the roof against future storm and weather exposure.
Step 2: Roof repair and clean
The roof was then repaired, with damaged metal sheets fixed and missing metal screws replaced.
Rust damage was identified and treated, before the roof was pressure washed to remove dirt and debris that had built up from age and storm exposure.
The high pressure clean also removed loose and flaking paint and prepared the roof for the application of its final protective coating.
Step 3: Roof membrane application and painting
The roof was then primed with a high-build solution designed to prevent corrosion and provide maximum adhesion of the roof membrane coating.
The final step of the roof restoration process was the application of the Dulux Acratex roof membrane. Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane offers a durable barrier and protects the roof against dirt & atmospheric pollutants.
The homeowners chose a paint finish in Colorbond® Woodland Grey®, a natural shade selected to perfectly blend with the home's leafy surroundings.
Finished roof restoration
The roof restoration is now complete and the roof looks brand new again. The old damaged roof has been completely revitalised with a fresh finish and the peace of mind of long-lasting Dulux Acratex protection.
